ANSF detains Haqqani sub commander, insurgents in Zirok District

KABUL, Afghanistan - Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) and International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) troops conducted an operation in Zirok district, Paktika province, June 27, that led to the capture of a Haqqani sub commander and three of his known associates.

ANSF and ISAF troops detained a four insurgents, including Said Marjan Jawed, who is responsible for planning and leading ambushes and attacks in Paktika province.

Significant preparation and planning helped ensure civilians were not injured in the operation and no shots were fired during the apprehension.   

This operation dealt a significant blow to an insurgent network responsible for indiscriminately killing and injuring innocent civilians and security force personnel.
