Insurgent IEDs kill at least 6 Afghans, wound 26 in Khost

KABUL, Afghanistan - At least six Afghans were killed and 26 wounded when two Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) detonated in Khost city, Khost province on 22 June.

At approximately 2:15 p.m., a small IED exploded in the busiest part of the city. Locals crowded around responding to the incident when a motorcycle drove into the crowd and detonated a suicide, vehicle-borne IED, killing and injuring Afghans in the crowd.

Afghan National Army soldiers and Afghan National Police (ANP) responded to the scene and have the area secure. The Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) are evacuating the wounded to a nearby International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) forward operating base for further medical treatment by ISAF service members.

The incident is currently under investigation.
