Czech Republic donates 12 helicopters to the Afghan army
The Afghan National Army (ANA) took delivery of the last three of 12 Czech-donated helicopters in Kabul on 8 February 2009. These capabilities are much needed by the ANA as it continues to progress towards providing first-line security to Afghanistan.
“The delivery of the final helicopters marks a significant milestone in the Czech military’s commitment to Afghanistan and NATO operations in Afghanistan, which I applaud”, said General John Craddock, Supreme Allied Commander Europe.
The Czech donation has included six Mi-17 transport and six Mi-24 attack helicopters. This equipment will enable the Afghan National Army Air Corps to perform a wide range of mission types from close-air support to medical evacuation.
