Chiefs of Defence in NATO-Russia Council format agree
Brussels, 26 January 2010 - In light with the December 2009 Foreign Ministers meeting of the NATO-Russia Council (NRC), where it was agreed to revitalise NATO-Russia military-to-military cooperation, today, the Military Committee in NRC-format welcomed the Russian Chief of Defence, Gen. Nikolai Makarov.
All 29 members exchanged views on military cooperation and the way ahead for practical activities in the field of Logistics, Combatting Terrorism, Search and Rescue at Sea and Counter Piracy. The next NRC-MR will take place in May 2010.
In preparation of the NRC-MR meeting, the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Di Paola and Gen. Makarov met for bilateral discussions.
