Floods in Albania
On 1 December 2010, the EADRCC received a request for assistance from Albania. Due to continuous rainfall for over a week, water levels in the lakes and on the Drini River have risen. As a result, the Shkodra region has been flooded.
Currently, approximately 10,000 inhabitants, 2450 buildings/houses are surrounded by water. More than 8000 ha of farmland is flooded.
So far 730 persons from district of Shkodra have been evacuated from flooded areas. Most of the displaced families are sheltered in students campuses provided by the Government. The rest of the displaced people have been sheltered by relatives and friends.

The Albanian Government foresees that in the coming days 3000 to 3500 additional families have to be evacuated. The Albanian Government has declared “the state of civil emergency” and has established the Inter-ministerial Committee.
Many persons don't have access to drinkable water supply. There are damages to the transport and agricultural infrastructure.
