Chapter 12: Host Nation Support

Capability Catalogue

1210. In order to facilitate generic planning, nations are invited to develop a capability catalogue which is a listing of facilities which exist and could be made available in a potential Host Nation, both during a high level crisis when the nation is mobilized, with total defence established and emergency legislation fully effective, and a lower level crisis without any national mobilization. The Capability Catalogue contains:

  • an overall summary of nations' available HNS capabilities;
  • reception facilities (sea and airports of debarkation/embarkation, logistics over the shore sites, and equipment holding areas);
  • air/naval operating base facilities;
  • staging and marshalling facilities;
  • support areas (supplies, medical, transportation, facilities, communications, petroleum, rear area protection, billeting and messing); and
  • movement operations.
