Major General Walter Jertz
Major General Walter Jertz of the German Air Force (Luftwaffe) joined the GEAF in 1965. He was born on May 31st 1945 in Mainz, Germany. He has over 3400 flying hours, massed mainly on the F 104 and the Tornado. Most recently he was Commander of the German 1 Air Division. In the past five years he has also been Contingent Commander of the Air Element of the NATO IFOR operation in the former Yugoslavia and Contingent Commander at AIRSOUTH, the NATO headquarters which is directing the current air campaign.
He is the author of the book: "Tornados over Bosnia"
