Народ Лівії, як і багато інших в регіоні Близького Сходу, виявив посилене прагнення до демократичних змін. Необхідно задовольнити його законні бажання. Свобода слова і зібрання є фундаментальними правами, в яких не можна відмовити.
Як Генеральний секретар альянсу демократичних країн я глибоко переконаний в тому, що демократія – це єдина міцна основа довготривалої стабільності. В далекосяжній перспективі жодне суспільство не може ігнорувати волю народу, тому що прагнення свободи притаманне кожній людині.
