His Excellency Mr. Luvsanvandan Bold, Minister of Defence of Mongolia, and Mr. James Appathurai, Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, met today in Ulaanbaatar to consider proposals for mutually beneficial cooperation.

They welcomed the participation of the Mongolian Armed Forces alongside Alliance troops as part of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan as well as in the past in NATO-led operations in Kosovo.

They emphasized their common interest in promoting peace, stability and shared values and in addressing the challenges they both face.

To this end, and at a pace and scope agreed by both parties, they have affirmed their willingness to work together to develop partnership relations to promote common understanding, interoperability, exchange on emerging security challenges, education and training, defence capacity building, and crisis prevention and management.
