NATO Committee on Gender Perspectives Annual meeting
From the 24th to the 27th of May NATO HQ will host the annual meeting of the Committee on Gender Perspective. The subject of this year’s meeting is: “How can gender make a difference to Security in operations”. The meeting aims to create a summary of best practices and lessons learned showing the influence a gender perspective can have on security issues in operations. Additionaly, indicators to measure success and progress in operations at tactical level are to be identified.
The meeting will be conducted by The Institute for Inclusive Security, a non-profit organization specialised in research, advocacy and training to identify and convey practical approaches for uniformed personnel to engage constructively with women.
This year the meeting will start with a conference open to the public, concentrating on the topic of gender, security and operations. The Chairman of the Military Committee, Admiral Giampaolo di Paola will open the conference, followed by a presentation of Mrs Palwasha Kakar, Deputy Minister of Women Affairs in Afghanistan and different experts and gender advisors sharing their knowledge and experiences with gender in operations and the benefits for security.
