The run-up to the NATO Summit in Warsaw and the security challenges facing the Alliance were the main topics of a live-streamed discussion that Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg had with an audience of around 200 European Union policy influencers and Twitter users on Monday (6 June 2016).

Asked if Warsaw will be a "make-or-break" summit, the Secretary General responded: "A landmark summit for sure. We face a changed security environment, and NATO has to respond. We will take new, important decisions, making sure NATO adapts when the world around us is changing".

The discussion ranged from Libya to a more assertive Russia, from the Black Sea to Montenegro, from the US to Norway, covering a wide range of topics: cooperation between NATO and the EU, hybrid warfare, defence spending among NATO's European Allies, security in Afghanistan, and women in leadership roles at NATO.

The Secretary General was a special guest at the POLITICO Cocktails series, where high-level figures debate current affairs with journalists, guests and a virtual audience.
