Promoted to Lieutenant Junior Grade in 1976
Promoted to Lieutenant in 1979
Promoted to Lieutenant Commander in 1989
Promoted to Commander in 1996

Promoted to Rear-Admiral in 2005
Promoted to Vice-Admiral in 2008
Promoted to Admiral in 2011
Appointed as Chief of Staff of Defence on December the 30th, 2011

  • During the year 2003, he took on command twice, as Commander of the NATO 441.01 Operational Group within "Active Endeavour" escort operations in the Strait of Gibraltar.
