NATO Secretary General at West Point: ''All for one, and one for all''

Addressing cadets at West Point United States Military Academy on Tuesday (23 September 2013), the NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen stressed the Alliance’s commitment to protect all Allies by saying that “Article 5 of our founding Treaty states that we consider an attack against one to be an attack against us all. This remains our solemn pledge. All for one, and one for all”. In his last address as Secretary General, Mr. Fogh Rasmussen paid tribute to the sacrifice and commitment shown by American and other Allied soldiers who served on NATO-led operations.

General Pavel elected as next Chairman of the NATO Military Committee

Chiefs of Defence of the 28 NATO nations elected General Petr Pavel, Chief of the General Staff of Armed Forces of the Czech Republic, as the next Chairman of the NATO Military Committee. His term of office, normally three years, is expected to begin in June 2015, when he will succeed the current Chairman, General Knud Bartels.

General Breedlove thanks Spain for Patriot commitment

MONS, Belgium 18 September 2014 — General Philip M. Breedlove (Supreme Allied Commander Europe) thanked Spain for its recent decision to provide Patriot missile batteries and 130 soldiers to augment NATO’s defensive deployment in southern Turkey. The Alliance deployed six batteries in 2013 to augment Turkey's air defence capabilities to defend the population from ballistic missile threats emanating from the Syrian conflict.

NATO launches Industry Cyber Partnership

On 17 September 2014, NATO launched an initiative to boost cooperation with the private sector on cyber threats and challenges. The NATO Industry Cyber Partnership (NICP) was presented at a two-day cyber conference held in Mons, Belgium, where 1500 industry leaders and policy makers gathered to discuss cyber collaboration.

NATO to defend every Ally from every threat, Deputy Secretary General says in visit to Poland

In light of Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, there will be a “far more visible” NATO presence in Eastern Europe with far more large-scale exercises, NATO Deputy Secretary General Ambassador Alexander Vershbow said in an address at the Multinational Corps North East Headquarters in Szczecin, Poland on Thursday (18 September 2014). He also stressed that all 28 Allies stand resolute in “our determination to defend every Ally from every threat.”
