NATO and its Partners to discuss non-proliferation and disarmament challenges

The ninth Annual NATO Conference on WMD Arms Control, Disarmament and Non-proliferation is taking place this year in the Croatian town of Split on 6th and 7th May. Hosted by the Croatian Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, the event will bring together senior officials from countries on four continents and the major international organizations.

Secretary General receives prestigious US Atlantic Council award

Anders Fogh Rasmussen received a Distinguished Leadership Award from the Atlantic Council of the United States for his service both as NATO Secretary General and as Prime Minister of Denmark on Wednesday (1 May 2013) in Washington DC. At the dinner and awards ceremony, attended by around 800 international guests, the Secretary General called on Europe and North America "to do more with each other, not less; to come closer, not drift apart; to turn outwards, not inwards."

NATO-Russia Council expands support to Afghan Air Force

NATO Foreign Ministers together with their Russian counterpart, Minister Sergey Lavrov, agreed to expand their support for the Afghan Air Force during a meeting of the NATO-Russia Council (NRC) on Tuesday (23 April). “Today we launched the second phase of the NATO-Russia Trust Fund for the maintenance of helicopters in Afghanistan,” said NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen.

Foreign ministerial opens with discussion on security hot spots

NATO Foreign Ministers started their ministerial Tuesday (23 April) with discussions on a wide range of security issues including North Korea and recent developments across the Middle East and North Africa. “We will discuss North Korea’s provocative actions and threatening statements. They remain a serious challenge for regional and international stability and security. NATO’s support to Afghan army sustainment takes shape

Foreign ministers from NATO and ISAF partner nations made progress in shaping NATO’s long-term support to Afghanistan at a meeting in Brussels on Tuesday (23 April 2013). “Today we agreed on the means to ensure transparency and accountability in our future funding mechanisms of the Afghan security forces. NATO-Russia Council expands Helicopter Maintenance Trust Fund Project for Afghanistan

Building on the successful completion of the first phase of the Helicopter Maintenance Trust Fund Project, NATO-Russia Council (NRC) foreign ministers agreed on 23 April to expand the project into new areas. The project is helping the Afghan Air Force (AAF) to develop the capabilities needed to operate and maintain its fleet of helicopters independently, including much-needed spare parts and technical training.
