The Dayton Peace Agreement (formally known as the General Framework Agreement for Peace in Bosnia and Herzegovina) was signed on 14 December 1995 at the Paris Peace Conference to mark the cessation of hostilities that tore that country apart between 1992 and 1995. It helped usher a new era for the Alliance as new partnerships and peacekeeping became central to NATO’s transition into a post-Cold War environment.

The NATO Archives contributes special gifts for the Secretary General’s visit to the National September 11th Memorial Museum

To support Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg’s visit to the National September 11th Memorial Museum in New York on September 27th, 2015, the NATO Archives prepared two special gifts as tokens of appreciation for the donation of a piece of the World Trade Center that will be displayed at the new NATO Headquarters. Both of the gifts were conceived as symbolic reminders of NATO’s ongoing solidarity and commitment to the United States in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.

Secretary General's 60th anniversary gifts to Germany

On 30 June 2015, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg traveled to Berlin to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Germany’s accession to the North Atlantic Treaty. During his official speech, the Secretary General presented German Minister of Foreign Affairs Frank-Walter Steinmeier with two extraordinary gifts in honor of the occasion. Both gifts were specially produced by the NATO Archives in collaboration with the NATO Printing and Graphics Design Section.
