NATO fully supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia within its internationally recognised borders. Therefore, we do not recognise the so-called treaty on alliance and strategic partnership signed between the Georgian region of Abkhazia and Russia on 24 November.

NATO Secretary General: Time has come to stop defence cuts

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called on Allies to invest more money on defence in a keynote speech at the 60th Plenary Session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in The Hague on Monday (24 November). “In more peaceful times, it was right to reduce defence spending,” the Secretary General said, “but we do not live in peaceful times. So it is right to stop the cuts and to increase spending on our defence.”

The Alliance’s Air Policing Mission over the three Baltic States was hailed as a concrete example of NATO solidarity in action by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg during a visit to the Karmelava Airspace Control Centre in Lithuania on Friday (21 November 2014). ''Collective defence is our core task,'' Mr Stoltenberg said, "NATO stands with Lithuania – as we do with each and every Ally.''
