NATO Defence Ministers took further steps on Thursday (8 October 2015) to make the Alliance’s collective defence stronger. “This sends a clear message to all NATO citizens: NATO will defend you. NATO is on the ground. NATO is ready,” said NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

Secretary General previews NATO Defence Ministers meeting

Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg briefed media on Tuesday (6 October 2015) on the topics of this week’s Defence Ministers meeting. Ministers will take further steps to reinforce the Alliance’s collective defence and look at its long-term adaptation. They will discuss the implications of Russia’s military activity, as well as the measures NATO is taking to adapt to the growing challenges from the South and the East. The situation in Syria and Afghanistan will also be addressed.

NATO Liaison Office Georgia marks fifth anniversary

The NATO Liaison Office Georgia marked the fifth anniversary of its foundation with the inauguration of a new conference facility in Tbilisi on 1 October. The facility is dedicated to hosting Professional Development Programme training, conferences, and other events that further Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic aspirations and will also be available to NATO Allies to support their Euro-Atlantic integration activities. Georgian government officials, civil society representatives and NATO ambassadors, defence attachés as well as other members of the diplomatic community attended the event.

NATO School explores energy security

Energy is vital for society and the military and NATO continues to consult on and develop its capacity to contribute to energy security. The changing energy landscape and its security implications for NATO Allies and partner countries was the focus of the first Energy Security Strategic Awareness Course held at the NATO School in Oberammergau which concluded on 2 October.
