NATO Secretary General appoints Rose Gottemoeller as next Deputy Secretary General

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has decided to appoint Rose Gottemoeller from the US as the next Deputy Secretary General. ‎She will replace Ambassador Alexander Vershbow from the US, who took up his position in February 2012.

Secretary General welcomes the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross to NATO Headquarters

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed President Peter Maurer of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to NATO Headquarters on Wednesday (22 June 2016). The leaders discussed developments in the cooperation and in the dialogue on humanitarian issues between NATO and the ICRC. President Maurer also participated in a meeting of the North Atlantic Council.

Chairman of the NATO Military Committee in Czech Republic to discuss defence and deterrence

During his visit to the Czech Republic (19 to 22 June), the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, General Pavel met with General Becvar, Czech Chief of Defence, Mr. Stropnicky, Czech Minister of Defence, Brigadier General Kase, Chief of the Military Office of the Czech President and Cardinal Monseigneur Duka, the Archbishop of Prague. General Pavel was a guest-lecturer at the Charles University in Prague and the University of Defence in Brno.
