MNBG S was established on 1st February, 2010. Austria , Germany (lead nation), Switzerland and Turkey are the four contributing nations in MNBG S. MNBG S is commanded by Brigadier General Stephan Thomas (German Army).
The mission of MNBG S is to:
MNBG S is to contribute to the safe and secure environment in close coordination with International Organizations and the Institutions in Kosovo by conducting operations based on a high situational awareness, ability for a rapid and determined deployment of manoeuvre forces and to deal with crisis situations in a resolute and decisive manner. Concurrently, MNBG S is to maintain close liaison to Kosovo Police (KP), EULEX and other International Organizations to coordinate their actions.
MNBG S is structured as follows:
- HQ MNBG S (based at Camp Prizren/Prizren).
- Austrian Maneuver Company, (based at Camp Casablanca/Suva Reka)
- German Maneuver Company, (based at Camp Prizren/Prizren).
- Swiss Maneuver Company, (based at Camp Casablanca/Suva Reka)
- Turkish Maneuver Company, (based at Camp Sultan Murat/Prizren)
- Multinational Aviation Task Force Mercury (consiting of Austrian, German and Swiss helicopters and their crew, based at Toplicane Airfield).
- Multinational Liaison and Monitoring Company (consisting of Austrian, German, Turkish and from 1st April 2010 Swiss elements).
- Multinational Military Police Company (consisting of Austrian, German, Swiss and Turkish elements).
- German Medical Task Force (also including Austrian and French medics).
- German Signals Company.
- German Support Battalion.
- Other Units.
